The owners of a pet crematorium involved in the controversial dumping of pet remains in San Jose Del Monte (SJDM), Bulacan have surfaced, admitting that they enlisted the help of bystanders or “tambays” to bury the dead pets — only to find out that the animal cadavers were thrown out at several dumping sites.
In a "24 Oras" report from John Consulta on Thursday, the owners of the Bulacan pet crematorium tagged in the dumping have surrendered to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and explained what happened.
Aliases “Michael” and “Edna”, who own a pet crematorium in SJDM, said that they were working with the Ahjay Paws Aftercare Pet Crematorium in Bacoor, Cavite.
Even before Ahjay could purchase the necessary equipment to cremate animals, they already began operations and accepted clients. They began passing the animal remains to the SJDM pet crematorium.
(At first it started with just one sack, then it had six or seven if they were small, then if it was big, it was one or two dogs that they were bringing, then eventually, there was one day that eight sacks were brought to us.)
The SJDM pet crematorium came to a point where they could no longer cremate all of the pet remains being brought to them by Ahjay, so they could no longer send back the ashes.
(He said to me ‘O, like this. Let us help each other. Just keep accepting what I send you and I can manage the ashes’.)
Edna said she did not know where the Ahjay owner would get the ashes.
Because of how many pet remains were being brought to them, the SJDM pet crematorium owners decided to just bury the cadavers.
(I spoke to the bystanders near us to look for a place to bury them, properly… I did not know what they were doing after. That some of them were just being thrown around. It reached the point that they were being thrown carelessly onto the street with his colleague.)
The couple apologized to the affected fur parents and asked for their forgiveness, saying that they wanted to take accountability for what they had done.
(We did not mean to do it. We just bit off more than we could chew and our last hope was to bury them properly. It was just that we trusted them to bury them properly, not just throw them carelessly.)
The NBI is already attempting to get an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order for the owners of Ajhay. —LDF, GMA News
