NBI raided homes allegedly owned by Velasco in August, says Matibag

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has conducted raids on houses allegedly owned by former Speaker Lord Allan Velasco in August, NBI Director Melvin Matibag said.

According to Matibag, agents implemented a search warrant for houses in Valle Verde upon receiving information that these contained illegal high-powered firearms.

Matibag said the NBI found firearm magazines and identification cards. GMA News Online is getting a comment from Velasco's camp and will publish it as soon as it is available.

“It turns out ‘yung mga bahay na nakapangalan sa ibang personalidad ay bahay pala, pag-aari pala ni former speaker at ni Ms. Rowena based on their admission also and at the time na in-enforce ‘yung search warrant,” he said in an interview on Tuesday.

(It turns out that the houses registered under other individuals’ names were actually houses owned by the former speaker and Ms. Rowena, based on their admission as well, and at the time the search warrant was enforced.)

Matibag said that when the search warrant came out, they did not know that the houses supposedly belonged to Velasco and his wife.

“Eventually, nalaman natin based on the statement din nung ating mga nag raid doon na nakapangalan ito sa employees nila lord Allan Velasco at saka there’s one company,” he said.

The NBI is investigating allegations of cash delivery to Vice President Sara Duterte, former President Rodrigo Duterte, and Davao City 1st District Representative Paolo Duterte on Velasco’s instructions.

Velasco’s camp has dismissed the allegations as baseless.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Immigration has confirmed that Velasco is out of the country, saying there is no derogatory record preventing his departure. –NB, GMA News
