Meanwhile, his compatriot Victor Boniface remained an unused substitute, watching the entire 90 minutes from the bench.

After a tense opening period where Fisnik Asllani was denied by Mark Flekken and Patrik Schick blazed over for Leverkusen, the match exploded into life on 76 minutes. Edmond Tapsoba hauled down Asllani inside the box, allowing Andrej Kramarić to smash home the opening penalty right down the center.

Leverkusen pushed hard for an equalizer, but Robert Andrich was thwarted by Oliver Baumann before Hoffenheim delivered a knockout blow.

In the 89th minute, Alexander Prass combined with Kramarić to rocket an 18-yard beauty past Flekken. But the drama didn’t end there, Prass was immediately shown a second yellow card and sent off for going overboard in his celebrations!

Down to ten men, Hoffenheim refused to sit back and sealed the rout in the 96th minute. After Kramarić rattled the crossbar, Max Moerstedt pounced on the break to poke the ball into the net and wrap up a crazy finish.
