Daisy Ridley has lined up a brand-new project, which will bring her to the small screen for a remake of a 1960s sci-fi series.
Deadline reports that Ridley has been cast as the lead in a Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea TV remake at Paramount+. The story will revolve around her character, Lee Crane, an ocean scientist who loses her sister during a tragic expedition in the Arctic. Lee discovers the existence of a classified government program, which involves a mysterious submarine that's stuck in ice. The USS Seaview only activates with Lee's help, and she ends up venturing out on dangerous underwater missions and discovering shocking secrets and revelations along the way.
Aside from starring in the series, Ridley will also have a behind-the-scenes role as an executive producer. Akiva Goldsman is on board to write the scripts (with a writers' room now open), and Matt Shakman will serve as a director; both are on the executive-producing team with Ridley and Jon Jashni. Derek Thielges is a co-producer.
