‘The Lowdown’ Season 2 Trailer Plunges Ethan Hawke’s Lee into a New Conspiracy
The season two trailer for The Lowdown suggests Lee Raybon’s (Ethan Hawke) circumstances may have improved a little — but also that it won’t last.
The critically hailed FX series from creator Sterlin Harjo (Reservation Dogs) puts Lee into the middle of a new investigation in Tulsa involving, as he puts it to Keith David’s Marty, “two confirmed murders and the whole sheriff’s department. It goes all the way to the top.”
Lee is drawn into the case by Ginger (Betty Gilpin), a public defender who’s dealing with a mystery involving one of her clients. Also complicating matters is the return of Lee’s estranged father, Lee Sr. (Tommy Lee Jones), who shows up in a red baseball cap that references a Bible verse (Psalms 107:29, “He calms the storm, so that its waves are still,” per the New King James version). Watch the trailer below.
Season two of The Lowdown will also feature Kaniehtiio Horn, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, Killer Mike, Michael Hitchcock, Macon Blair, Siena East, Cody Lightning and Jude Barnett reprising their roles. Martha Plimpton guest stars (season one star Kyle MacLachlan also makes a brief appearance in the trailer), and FX advises viewers to keep an eye out for “a number of familiar faces” from Harjo’s Reservation Dogs. Paulina Alexis (Willie Jack) made a brief appearance in the show’s first season.
Harjo is the showrunner on The Lowdown and executive produces with Garrett Basch, Ethan Hawke, Ryan Hawke, Duffy Boudreau and Scott Teems. FX Productions is the studio. Season two premieres Oct. 14 with two episodes on FX and Hulu.
