Jakarta (ANTARA) - Jakarta's status as an "epicenter of events" has contributed to the capital's economic growth of 5.87 percent in the third quarter of 2026, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said.

"Jakarta's economy grew 5.87 percent in the third quarter of 2026, up from 5.52 percent in the previous quarter and exceeding the national growth rate of 5.47 percent," Anung said on Friday.

He also noted that Jakarta's inflation rate stood at 2.52 percent, the lowest among provinces in Java and Bali and across Indonesia.

According to Anung, the achievement was supported by effective monitoring conducted by the Jakarta's Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID).

"Some of the commodities contributing to inflation in Jakarta include meat, rice, sweet potatoes, chilies, jewelry, and others. By monitoring their prices closely, we have managed to keep inflation under control," Anung explained.

"Jakarta is usually highly sensitive to inflation, but this time we have managed to maintain the rate at 2.52 percent," he added.

Earlier, Statistics Indonesia (BPS) Jakarta reported that the capital's economy grew 5.87 percent year on year (yoy) in the third quarter of 2026, accounting for 16.09 percent of the national economy, the largest contribution among all provinces.

"Jakarta accounts for 16.09 percent of the national economy, down from 16.32 percent in the second quarter of 2026," said BPS Jakarta Head Kadarmanto.

He also listed the four provinces with the largest contributions to the national economy after Jakarta: East Java (14.36 percent), West Java (12.71 percent), Central Java (8.17 percent), and North Sumatra (5.30 percent).

Meanwhile, Jakarta's year-on-year economic growth of 5.87 percent in the third quarter ranked sixth nationally.

North Maluku recorded the highest growth at 16.65 percent, followed by the Riau Islands at 7.52 percent, West Nusa Tenggara at 7.39 percent, North Kalimantan at 6.34 percent, Central Sulawesi at 5.96 percent, and West Java at 5.89 percent.

"Almost all provinces recorded positive growth, with Central Papua being the only exception. Jakarta grew by 5.87 percent, slightly below West Java's 5.89 percent, while North Maluku recorded the highest growth nationwide at 16.65 percent," Kadarmanto said.
