Senator Robin Padilla on Wednesday reacted to the remarks of Senator Erwin Tulfo, who said he was hurt by the reports that three fellow senators supposedly voted against dismissing a petition seeking to unseat him.

“Gano’n ba? Wala naman dapat ikatampo siguro. Baka hindi pa lang niya alam kung ano ‘yung totoo,” Padilla said in an ambush interview.

(Is that so? I don't think there's any reason to be upset. Maybe he just doesn't know the truth yet.)

Padilla was said to be among the three Senate Electoral Tribunal (SET) members who reportedly voted against dismissing a motion for reconsideration on the ruling that junked the petition to remove Tulfo from office over alleged citizenship issues, among other grounds.

Tulfo said he was a bit hurt by the reports, believing he was on good terms with two of the three senators who supposedly betrayed him.

He also posted a cartoon on his official Facebook page depicting three individuals preparing to stab him in the back. The arms holding the knives bore the names “Sen. Padilla,” “Sen. Villar” and “Sen. Pia.”

The SET is composed of three Supreme Court justices and six senators. Senators Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan, Bam Aquino, and Lito Lapid represent the majority bloc, while Senators Pia Cayetano, Robin Padilla, and Camille Villar represent the minority. — RSJ, GMA News
