Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed the government’s commitment to continuing to develop the social protection system and enhance integration among government policies and programs in a manner that helps meet citizens’ basic needs, ensures the efficient allocation of resources, and reaches the most vulnerable groups. This came during a meeting held by the prime minister on Sunday, October 18, 2026 to follow up on the latest developments regarding the session entitled “Market Regulation and a More Effective Social Protection System,” as part of ongoing preparations for the “Egypt Forum 2026,” which is scheduled to begin tomorrow and run through October 24 in the New Administrative Capital.

The meeting was attended by Social Solidarity Minister Maya Morsy, Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, Planning and Economic Development Minister Ahmed Rostom, and Head of the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) Akram al-Gohary.

At the beginning of the meeting, Madbouly stressed that it was being held as part of the follow-up to preparations for the “Market Regulation and a More Effective Social Protection System” session at Egypt Forum 2026, given the importance of this issue and its direct connection to the state’s efforts to improve citizens’ quality of life and strengthen social stability.

During the meeting, the main themes of the session were reviewed to ensure that it addresses the various dimensions of social protection and security, highlights the state’s efforts to strengthen the social protection system and support food security, and promotes integration among government policies and programs. These efforts aim to ensure the efficient allocation of available resources and improve citizens’ living standards.

The meeting also reviewed the government’s efforts to ensure that essential commodities are available in adequate quantities and that supplies remain regular. Discussions covered measures to enhance market stability through continuous monitoring of stock levels, intensified inspections of markets and retail outlets, and action against monopolistic practices and attempts to manipulate prices, thereby protecting consumer rights and helping ease the cost-of-living burden on citizens.

The meeting further addressed the objectives for the coming phase and mechanisms for developing relevant programs and initiatives. It emphasized the importance of highlighting achievements and existing challenges in order to improve government performance, enhance responsiveness to the needs of target groups, and support the state’s efforts to consolidate social protection and security.
