Andrew Dice Clay Latest To Join Benny Safdie’s ‘Lizard Music’

EXCLUSIVE: Andrew Dice Clay (A Star Is Born) is set for a voice role in Lizard Music, Benny Safdie’s new live-action/CGI hybrid film for Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists.

No word on the role Clay will play. He joins a cast led by 10-year-old Theo Clark Leber, which also includes Dwayne Johnson, Alicia Silverstone, Tim Heidecker, Arya Parvathi and Regina Hall.

Based on the novel by Daniel Pinkwater, Lizard Music follows a boy (Leber) left to his own devices who stumbles upon a secret late-night broadcast of lizards playing otherworldly music — a hidden door to the extraordinary then swinging open. His search for answers leads him to an eccentric and whimsical old man nicknamed The Chicken Man (Johnson), and his beloved companion, a 111-year-old chicken named Claudia – two kindred spirits who found each other at just the right time. United by this shared vision, they set off on an adventure that begins as a hunt for a hidden society but blossoms into something far greater: a voyage through invisible worlds, unexpected harmonies, and the unbreakable bond between lost souls who discover magic not only in what they find, but in each other.

Safdie is directing from his own script. Producers include UA’s Scott Stuber and Nick Nesbitt, Safdie for Out for the Count Productions, Johnson for Seven Bucks Productions and Magnetic Fields Entertainment’s David Koplan.

An iconic stand-up who broke out in the ’80s as one of the first to headline arenas — becoming the first two sell out two consecutive nights at Madison Square Garden — Clay’s film credits include Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine, Bradley Cooper’s A Star Is Born and most recently, The Pickup, the heist flick from Amazon MGM where he starred alongside Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson. In television, he had his own Showtime series, Dice, and is also known for roles in Martin Scorsese’s Vinyl, Hulu’s Pam & Tommy, Entourage and more.
