Presley Gerber’s "Heartbroken" Family Speaks Out After His Death
Nearly one month after the 27-year-old died inside a rehab facility on Sept. 20, his parents Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber as well as his sister Kaia Gerber shared insight into their grief.
“We are beyond heartbroken to lose our beloved son and brother,” the family wrote in a statement shared to Cindy’s Instagram Oct. 17 alongside a black-and-white photo of Presley wearing angel wings. “We feel so blessed to have had Presley in our lives for 27 years. He is a sweet, beautiful soul who loved and is loved, now and forever.”
But as they grapple with the devastating loss, Presley’s family remain determined to carry on his mission to bring awareness to and improve resources for mental health.
“We are so proud of how he showed up in the world, with kindness and vulnerability,” they added. “We are grateful for the outpouring of love and support from so many who know and love our family and even strangers who feel our pain. Til we meet again our sweet boy. We love you forever, Mom, Dad and Kaia.”
In fact, Presley’s determination to share what he’d learned amid his own mental health and addiction struggles—which he did through a social media series he titled, “Mental Health Mondays”—was one of the traits Kaia admired most about her brother.
“My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything,” Kaia reflected in an interview with Vogue in August. “And now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone.’”

After all, as the Shards actress noted, “There’s only so much you can hide from the world. And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them.”
Which is why the 25-year-old declared her love for her older brother loudly and publicly, often honoring his birthdays and other milestones on social media.
“happy birthday to my best friend and forever party,” Kaia wrote on Instagram in July 2025 for Presley’s 26th birthday. “thanks for everything you’ve taught me.”

Accompanying the sweet caption were throwback photos of Kaia and Presley as kids, two in which they posed alongside a horse and two more that saw them playing together on the beach.
Cindy, too, was quick to honor her son’s journey, marking
“Happy birthday @presleygerber,” she wrote on her son’s 27th birthday this year. “I’m so proud of the man you’ve become, but I’ll always see you as my little boy! Love you.”
