Diego Moreira came off the bench and scored two in two minutes to give Milan a 2-2 draw, cancelling out the excellent Lazio first half for Matteo Cancellieri and Tijjani Noslin.

The Aquile went out of the Coppa Italia to Mantova, but had a 100 per cent Serie A record with wins over Bologna, Genoa and Udinese. Danilho Doekhi joined the absentee list with surgery for a fracture in his hand, with Patric, Nicolò Rovella, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru and Adam Marusic, plus Andrea Pinamonti and Danilo Cataldi only fit for the bench. Bosko Sutalo therefore got his first start.

The Rossoneri still missed Matteo Gabbia, but Adrien Rabiot dropped into midfield for Yunus Musah after being used as a trequartista for the 1-1 draw at Juventus.

The boycott of home games continued, so there were more Milan fans in the stands of the Stadio Olimpico than Lazio supporters.

See how it all unfolded on the Liveblog.

Christos Mandas had to palm Samuel Chukwueze’s header off the line after a Luka Modric corner, then Matteo Cancellieri went down under pressure from Pervis Estupinan inside the penalty area.

Mattia Zaccagni got away from Chukwueze to force a one-handed Mike Maignan save from a tricky angle, and Tijjani Noslin poked the finish straight at Maignan from a Romano Floriani Mussolini cross.

The Lazio goal had been coming and Nuno Tavares surged through the centre, spread it down the left for Zaccagni, whose roll across found Cancellieri to slide in at the back post, with Pervis Estupinan caught napping.

A smart passing move with Davide Frattesi first-time lay-off sent Zaccagni clear, so Maignan came bravely rushing out to parry with his face from point-blank range.

Frattesi almost scored one himself, pouncing on a lucky ricochet off Modric to skim the upright, while Strahinja Pavlovic nodded a Chukwueze cross over.

Lazio’s second was chaotic, as Kenneth Taylor rolled across from the left for Noslin, it bounced off the underside of the crossbar, and then a combination of the attempted Koni De Winter clearance and Noslin’s head saw it bundled over the line from a yard.

A Ruben Loftus-Cheek effort was deflected wide and Mario Gila prodded the resulting corner straight at Mandas, but Milan were so poor that Ruben Amorim made three changes at half-time, including the season debut of Christian Pulisic.

They were certainly more aggressive, but Pavlovic’s header was straight at Mandas after a strong Diego Moreira run, then the goalkeeper made a great save at the near post on the Pulisic daisy-cutter.

The substitutions worked, as Pulisic stood up a cross from the right for Diego Moreira, who kept his volley on target from a tricky angle at the back post, his first Serie A goal.

It was followed 120 seconds later by another, because Yunus Musah won back the ball in midfield and crossed, Rabiot laid it off for Moreira to drill in first-time from the edge of the area and complete the comeback from 2-0 down to 2-2 in two minutes.

Zaccagni tested Maignan from a huge distance, Cisse bent his solo effort wide of the far post, and Goncalo Ramos just failed to connect with the Omari Hutchinson cross.
