EgyptAir has been named the World’s Most Improved Airline for 2026 at the Skytrax World Airline Awards, marking the airline’s entry into the global top 50.

According to Skytrax, EgyptAir ranked 46th among the world’s top 100 airlines, up from 69th in 2025. The ranking places Egypt’s national carrier among airlines including United Airlines, which ranked 45th, and Iberia Express, which ranked 47th.

Skytrax also awarded EgyptAir the title of World’s Most Improved Airline, an award that recognizes improvements across the organization’s overall awards programme, including changes in an airline’s global ranking and performance across different categories.

The airline also received three additional awards in 2026: Best Cabin Crew in Africa, Most Improved Airline in Africa, and Best Economy Class in Africa, according to Skytrax’s list of award winners.

The airline also ranked second among Africa’s best airlines for 2026, behind Ethiopian Airlines, according to Skytrax’s regional rankings.

The latest recognition builds on EgyptAir’s performance in the previous edition of the awards. In 2025, the airline was named Most Improved Airline in Africa and ranked fifth among the continent’s best airlines.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi congratulated Egypt’s civil aviation sector and EgyptAir following the announcement in a post published on 18 September.

El-Sisi described the recognition as an achievement for Egypt’s national carrier and noted that EgyptAir’s rise to 46th place put it among the world’s top 50 airlines. He also said the recognition reflected efforts to improve efficiency and service standards within the aviation sector.

The 2026 World Airline Awards named Singapore Airlines the world’s best airline, followed by Qatar Airways and Cathay Pacific Airways.
