Osun poll: APC legal team denies petition before tribunal

OSOGBO — The legal team of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has denied filing any petition before the state governorship election tribunal challenging the outcome of the August 15 election.

The denial followed the pasting of notices of petitions on Monday at the tribunal’s notice board at its building within the High Court premises in Osogbo.

The APC petition, with suit number EPT/OS/GOV/01/2026, was listed as having been filed by the party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, against Governor Ademola Adeleke, the Accord Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Another petition, numbered EPT/OS/GOV/02/2026, was listed as having been filed by Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against Adeleke, INEC and the Accord Party.

However, a member of the APC legal team, Barrister Muideen Adeoye, said the petition attributed to the APC candidate did not emanate from the party or its candidate.

“I am telling you authoritatively that we did not file any petition, either for the candidate or the party. The said petition may have emanated from some persons within the party, but it is without the permission of the leadership.

“As I am speaking with you, the legal team, in conjunction with the party hierarchy, agreed not to file any petition, and we did not file any.

“I am also aware that notice of petition was pasted at the tribunal today (Monday). That is strange, and I repeat, we did not file the said petition,” Adeoye said.
