Will Bruno Fernandes be dropped for Manchester United vs Bournemouth?

United take on the impressive Cherries side at 2pm this afternoon with Carrick under increasing pressure after a run of seven games without a win across all competitions. The manager must decide whether to retain his captain in the starting XI after Fernandes questioned the coaching staff's tactical approach in Wednesday's 4-1 defeat in Italy.

Fernandes suggested United needed to press opponents more aggressively, and said the decision not to adopt a man-to-man pressing system was down to the coaching staff. Carrick has not confirmed whether the midfielder will retain his place, but Fernandes is not expected to be dropped or stripped of the captaincy.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s game, Carrick refused to rule out dropping his captain. Asked about the possibility, he told reporters: "The most important thing for me is the team, the squad and dynamics in the squad.

"It's about the football club. I'll always do what is best for the football club."

United are dealing with several injury concerns, with Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, Benjamin Sesko, Patrick Dorgu and Manuel Ugarte expected to miss out. Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford are also doubts.

Carrick’s starting line-up will be confirmed by the club at 12.45pm GMT.
