Bangkok police arrest man wanted for rape of teenager since 2019

BANGKOK — 25 October 2025, Police have arrested a 47-year-old man wanted in connection with the alleged rape of a 17-year-old girl in 2018, after finding him working as a motorcycle taxi driver in the Lat Phrao area.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau’s Children and Women Welfare Sub-Division arrested Supharuek, whose surname was withheld, on Sunday at a motorcycle taxi stand at the entrance to Lat Phrao Soi 83 in Wang Thonglang district.

He was wanted under a Criminal Court arrest warrant issued on 8 January 2019 on charges including rape by use of force against a person unable to resist, trespassing into a residence at night, and coercion.

According to police, the case dates back to 2018, when the suspect allegedly raped a girl who was 17 at the time at a room in the Lat Phrao area.

Following the alleged assault, the girl’s mother accompanied her to file a police complaint, leading to an investigation and the issuance of an arrest warrant in January 2019.

Police said the suspect became aware of the investigation and fled before officers could arrest him.

Investigators from the Children and Women Welfare Sub-Division continued searching for the suspect before receiving information that he had been working as a motorcycle taxi driver in the Lat Phrao area.

After confirming that he was based at a motorcycle taxi stand at the entrance to Lat Phrao Soi 83, officers moved in and arrested him.

He was taken to Phahonyothin Police Station for further legal proceedings.
