Yellowjackets Return Home As Left-Behind Survivors Are Teased In Action-Packed Season 4

The teenage survivors are finally home in Yellowjackets season 4.

Yellowjackets season 3 ended with teenage Natalie Scattorcio (Sophie Thatcher) making contact with the outside world, setting up the means for rescue after three seasons of being trapped in the wilderness and the group descending into cannibalism. In the 2020s storyline, Misty Quigley (Christina Ricci), Shauna Sadecki (Melanie Lynskey), Taissa Turner (Tawny Cypress), and Melissa (Hilary Swank) are the only confirmed adult survivors left.

Ahead of the November 20 debut, Paramount+ has now released an official teaser trailer for Yellowjackets' fourth and final season, which sees Natalie and the other traumatized teenage survivors being welcomed home, including a man proudly telling Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) that "you girls are American heroes." The teens are recorded as they tell a false story of what happened in the wilderness, juxtaposed with the brutal footage of what happened in previous seasons. Check out the trailer below:

Similar to Shauna's vision in Yellowjackets season 3, there is a shot of a yellowjacket trapped inside a light. There are also glimpses of lightning striking and sending the characters hurtling backwards in the wilderness, adult Shauna loading a firearm, Travis Martinez (Kevin Alves) sobbing in front of a burning cross, a masked figure carrying a hatchet as they emerge from a burning house, and a bruised, bloodied teenage Shauna laughing maniacally while sitting inside the pit.

Throughout the trailer, there is emphasis on the disconnect between the teen survivors and those around them, as their smiling, relieved parents, teenage Jeff Sadecki (Sam Braun), and the man who calls them "American heroes" cannot begin to comprehend what really happened in the wilderness, especially with the truth being hidden.

The majority of the footage taking place in Wiskayok, New Jersey, instead of the wilderness indicates that the rescue will probably happen early on in the season, with most of the 1990s storyline being about the fallout after returning home. Based on what is known, researcher Hannah Finch (Ashley Sutton), who had the misfortune of crossing paths with the Yellowjackets in the wilderness, will need to die prior to the rescue. The fate of Akilah (Nia Sondaya) will also need to be clarified as she has never been seen or mentioned in the 2020s timeline.

While the footage focuses more on the teenage characters, there is still plenty to wrap up with the adults, particularly with Misty and Taissa teaming up against Shauna after the death of Van Palmer (Lauren Ambrose). Other key characters in the 2020s timeline featured in the trailer are Walter Tattersall (Elijah Wood), who is laughing, and Shauna's daughter, Callie Sadecki (Sarah Desjardins), the latter of whom was confirmed to have killed Lottie Matthews (Simone Kessell). The adult Jeff (Warren Kole), who is Shauna's husband and Callie's father, is still alive as well.

In addition to Braun now playing teenage Jeff, other newcomers to the Yellowjackets cast include Molly Ringwald, June Squibb, Devon Sawa, Dulé Hill, Ken Marino, Eric Stoltz, and Aaron Staton. Some of their characters remain under wraps, but it has been confirmed that Ringwald is playing Vicky, the mother of teenage Van (Liv Hewson), and a recovering alcoholic. Also confirmed are Dulé Hill as Detective Rollins and Marino as Russell.

Yellowjackets was created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, who serve as showrunners. They previously spoke about having a five-season plan before ultimately deciding that the story would be better served by concluding with season 4.

Yellowjackets season 4 premieres on November 20 on Paramount+ with the Premium Plan.
