Cops seize guns, drugs in Zambales

SAN ANTONIO, ZAMBALES, Philippines — Police seized seven firearms, a hand grenade, ammunition, and suspected illegal drugs in three separate operations in Zambales on Saturday, Sept. 26.

Two search warrant operations in this town led to the recovery of six firearms, a hand grenade, and assorted ammunition from individuals whom police intelligence linked to an alleged robbery group, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Police said the firearms and ammunition were secured as evidence as authorities continued to investigate their possible connection to criminal activities.

In a separate buy-bust operation in Cabangan town, police arrested a suspect and seized 1.61 grams of suspected shabu, 30.1 grams of suspected marijuana, and a .38-caliber revolver.

The seized drugs were sent for examination, while police said appropriate charges were being prepared against the arrested suspect.

PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the operations were part of intelligence-led efforts to disrupt criminal activities and remove illegal firearms and drugs from communities.

The PNP said it conducted the operations under its Enhanced Managing Police Operations agenda, which focuses on intelligence-led police activities against criminal activities. /cb
