Cristian Chivu could be minded to rest a few of his key players against bottom-of-the-table Venezia in Serie A on Wednesday evening as his Inter side eye up a big match against city rivals Milan in the league this weekend.
A full round of Serie A fixtures is taking place this midweek, which got off to a flyer on Tuesday night with 18 goals scored across three fixtures for an average of six goals per game: Lazio beat 10-man Sassuolo 6-2 at the Mapei Stadium, Roma rose to a 4-2 victory over Cagliari at the Olimpico, while Cesc Fabregas and Como defeated Torino 3-1 at the Stadio Sinigaglia.
Hosts Venezia have lost seven of their first eight matches since returning to Serie A: Their only victory coming against Napoli earlier this month. They were defeated 1-0 by Genoa over the weekend.

Inter, meanwhile, were top of the Serie A standings at the beginning of the week with seven wins and one draw on their record so far. They have been overtaken by Lazio, who were in action on Tuesday night, but Chivu and his squad will be hoping this is only a temporary change.
With one eye on the Derby della Madonnina against Milan this weekend, Chivu could make a few personnel changes against Venezia on Wednesday night, including potential starts for Djed Spence, Aleksandar Stankovic and Piotr Zielinski.

Captain and leading goalscorer Lautaro Martinez is still unavailable through injury, which makes Marcus Thuram the most senior option and perhaps the most reliable option at centre-forward. He could be rested ahead of the Milan game, which would mean a front two of Pio Esposito and Ange-Yoan Bonny against Venezia.
Kick-off is due at 17.30 GMT (18.30 CET).

Venezia (3-5-2): Stankovic; Halhal, Moreno, J.Jesus; Hainaut, Perez, Basic, Sohm, Mazzocchi; Yeboah, Adams.
Inter (3-5-2): Provedel; Bisseck, Bastoni, C.Augusto; Spence, Barella, Stankovic, Zielinski, Dimarco; Bonny, P.Esposito.
