Haze persists as 29 areas record unhealthy API, Johan Setia and Cheras worst hit

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 30 — Air quality remained unhealthy in at least 32 areas nationwide based on the latest available readings as of 10am today, with Johan Setia in Selangor recording the country’s highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading at 175.

According to the Department of Environment’s Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Cheras in Kuala Lumpur followed at 172, while Nilai and Shah Alam recorded 170 each, Pasir Gudang 168 and Batu Muda 166.

Other high readings included Larkin Lama at 165, Putrajaya at 164, Pelabuhan Klang at 163, Balok Baru and Indera Mahkota at 162 each, and Petaling Jaya and Seremban at 161 each.

Kota Tinggi recorded 160, followed by Banting at 159, Kuala Terengganu at 157, Bandaraya Melaka and Bukit Rambai at 155 each, and Batu Pahat, Pengerang and Port Dickson at 153 each.

The latest available reading for IPD Serian in Sarawak, which was not updated at 10am, was 140 at 8am.

Under the Malaysian API scale, readings of zero to 50 are classified as good, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy and above 300 hazardous.
