Rosamund Pike to star in "twisted mother-daughter" horror story where social media influencing turns monstrous

Rosamund Pike will be turning to the body horror genre for her next film role – with the Gone Girl star set to lead the cast of upcoming movie Feed.
Pike will also serve as a producer on the film, which is being directed by The Acolyte creator Leslye Headland and is described as a "twisted mother-daughter story".
Inspired by the Finnish film Hatching from 2022, Pike will star as a "desperate mother" who "discovers an obscure collagen supplement that promises to make her tween gymnast daughter an influencer star."
However, when the plan succeeds and her daughter becomes a viral star, she also undergoes a "monstrous transformation."

Speaking about taking on the project, Pike explained that she had long wanted to make a movie that "plays anarchically with our obsession with social media and self-improvement, our desire for fame without notable admirable skill and, let’s put it out there, the monstrosity of modern motherhood."
She added: "Feed deals with all these things. It tracks a Momfluencer, Erin, bent on her daughter’s domination of the digital space. Erin believes that success here will protect her daughter from the horrors of our fickle world… won’t it?"
Pike went on to say that the film examines various forms of appetite, including "the dark appetite of online communities, the appetite of a social media landscape that monetises youth and beauty, the appetite of a mother for her daughter’s success, and the appetite of a teenage girl, hungry for fame, self empowerment and dominance in her relationship with her single mother."

Meanwhile, Headland described the script by Daniella Isaacs as "audacious, disturbing and deeply human" while calling Pike "among the boldest actors working today."
She continued: "I couldn’t ask for better partners to take on the darker corners of this story and I feel incredibly lucky to be making this film with two women whose work I admire so much."
There's no word yet on when the film will begin production or when we might expect to see it in cinemas, but we'll be keeping our eyes out for any updates.
Pike is next due to feature in Guy Ritchie's Wife and Dog in 2027, featuring in an all-star cast alongside the likes of House of the Dragon's James Norton, two-time Oscar winner Anthony Hopkins, Marvel star Benedict Cumberbatch and BAFTA winner Paddy Considine.
