Channel 4 confirms launch date for new crime drama Pierre starring British acting legend

New crime drama Pierre has been given a release date on Channel 4, and it's coming soon.

Pierre stars Homeland and Supergirl favourite David Harewood as a London duty solicitor who sets out to investigate systemic police corruption following the suspicious death of his young Black client, Michael.

The new series will air on Monday 5 October on Channel 4 at 9pm with the full boxset available to stream following transmission of the first episode.

The official synopsis reads: "As Pierre challenges the police's portrayal of Michael as a criminal, he unravels a chilling web of institutional corruption. When you come at the system, the system comes at you..."

Alongside Harewood, Pierre also stars Michele Austin (This Is Going to Hurt) as Charlotte Manners, Pierre’s joint managing partner of their solicitor’s firm, as well as Jason Flemyng (Boiling Point) as Pierre’s best friend, DS Ronnie Miller.

Other cast members include Dean-Charles Chapman (1917), Nikkita Chadha (Hijack), Christopher Fairbank (Andor), Sara Powell (Last Christmas) and Cherrelle Skeete (Hanna).
Pierre has been co-written by John Donnelly and playwright Roy Williams, in his television series debut, and was filmed on location in West London.

Harewood has most recently been seen in Paramount+ thriller series The Agency, while he also starred in the second season of Sherwood on BBC One.

The actor said of starring in the series: "I’m extremely delighted to be taking the title role in Pierre. He’s such a wonderfully well-painted character, beautifully crafted by Roy and John and I cannot wait to get into his shoes.

"He is bright, flawed, and passionate about his work and I’m really hoping audiences find him as appealing as I do on the page."

Meanwhile, Donnelly and Williams added: "Duty solicitors are the unsung heroes of the legal profession. Overworked, underpaid. They can be called out anytime, never knowing who or what lies in store for them. They are full of stories – it's a thrill to tell them."

Pierre has been executively produced by Harewood himself alongside Jo Johnson (Adolescence) whilst Sarmad Masud (Boarders) directs.

Pierre will air at 9pm on Monday 5 October on Channel 4 - the full boxset will be available to stream following transmission of the first episode.
