Teams have until November 17 to finalise their list of players retained and released  •  BCCI

The deadline for teams to finalise their retention list and released players ahead of the IPL 2027 auction has been pushed by two days to November 17. It was initially scheduled for November 15, the same day as the fifth ODI between India and New Zealand. The day-long mini-auction itself is set for December 16 in Goa.

Soon after the teams finalise their retentions and releases, the IPL will send the franchises the registered pool of players to shortlist from before the final list is sent out, along with the order of the sets, in the week leading into the auction.

The IPL has not yet finalised the dates for the 2027 season. But, in 2024, while announcing the dates for the following three seasons, it had chalked out the window between March 14 and May 30. However, in September this year, post the BCCI's AGM, board secretary Devajit Saikia had indicated that the tournament could start around the end of March.

This is the last mini-auction in the IPL's current cycle, with a mega auction scheduled ahead of the 2028 season. The next mega auction will kick-off the IPL's next media rights cycle, though the BCCI is yet to release the tender. In 2022, the IPL joined the ivy league of global sport after the media rights were sold for an astronomical sum of INR 48,390.5 crore (US$ 6.2 billion approx.).
