YouTube is a way for me to win – Omoni Oboli
Popular actress and filmmaker Omoni Oboli has urged creatives to remain hungry for growth and resist the temptation to become complacent after achieving success.
Speaking at a recent event, Oboli stressed the importance of constantly looking ahead and pursuing new goals.
She said, “I don’t look at what is behind me. I look at what is in front of me. As a creative person, don’t get high on your own supply. Don’t sit back and say, ‘I did this amazing work,’ and sit there with it. Appreciate the moment, but move on quickly. Because the truth is, if you don’t get hungry again, you don’t get fed.”
The filmmaker also described her approach to filmmaking as a responsibility that goes beyond personal ambition, noting that the success of her work has implications for the livelihoods and aspirations of other people.
“For me, I take filmmaking as almost a ministry. It’s not just something I do because a lot of destinies are tied to mine. And I must win, for us. YouTube is a way for me to win, and when I win, my people win. It’s very serious.”
