The Delhi High Court has asked the All India Tennis Association (AITA) and the original petitioners led by former player Somdev Devvarman to file replies to the Court-appointed administrator Justice (retd.) Gita Mittal’s request to implead the AITA Trust and the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association (DLTA) in the ongoing proceedings to amend the AITA’s Constitution.

In the hearing held on September 25, the order of which was released recently, the Court said that rejoinders, if any, to AITA’s replies should be filed by November 6, the date when the matter will be heard again.

Justice Mittal, in her report dated September 14, had alleged large-scale financial misconduct and accused the office-bearers of stonewalling requests for documents and information.

The Court has also asked the AITA to respond to the request to produce the complete minutes of the Extraordinary General Meeting held on July 26 to ratify the new Constitution in line with the National Sports Governance Act, 2025.

The timeline for the conduct of fresh elections has been extended to November 27 from the previous deadline of September 30.

The AITA had requested the extension to complete the various mandatory administrative processes in the lead-up to the elections, chief among which is the finalisation of the 40-member strong Sportspersons of Outstanding Merit (SOM) roster.
