Irfan Pathan wasted little time taking a cheeky dig at Pakistan after India produced another one-sided victory over their arch-rivals in the Women’s Asia Cup 2026 on Saturday.Minutes after India crushed Pakistan by seven wickets in their Group A clash, the former India all-rounder took to X with a four-word post that quickly went viral.

“Aaj Sunday hai kya?” Pathan wrote.The post was a clear throwback to one of his most talked-about social media jibes from last year, when he repeatedly mocked Pakistan after India defeated the Men in Green in three T20Is played on consecutive Sundays.On that occasion, Pathan had posted, “Sunday kaisa raha padosiyo,” after India's victories, turning the phrase into a recurring taunt aimed at Pakistan.

Pathan’s latest post came after India completely dominated Pakistan in the Women’s Asia Cup encounter, with young spinners Shree Charani and Prema Rawat playing the starring roles.Pakistan were bowled out for just 55 in 18.1 overs, their lowest-ever total in T20 cricket. India’s spin attack dismantled the Pakistan batting line-up after Harmanpreet Kaur opted to introduce her spinners once she realised the pitch was offering turn.Charani, a 22-year-old left-arm orthodox spinner, finished with impressive figures of 3/7 from four overs, while 24-year-old leg-spinner Prema Rawat claimed 3/9 in her four overs.

Shafali Verma chipped in with 1/10 from three overs before Deepti Sharma wrapped things up with 2/5 in 3.1 overs.Pakistan had initially looked comfortable, reaching 27 without losing a wicket in just over four overs. Muneeba Ali made 13 and Shawaal Zulfiqar scored 14, but their dismissals triggered a spectacular collapse.Pakistan lost six wickets for only nine runs to slump to 36/6 after 10 overs.India's bowlers also produced 78 dot balls during Pakistan's 18.1-over innings, leaving the opposition with virtually no room to recover.

Harmanpreet creates history before sealing win

The match was also a landmark occasion for Harmanpreet Kaur, who became the first international captain, male or female, to lead India in 150 T20Is.She marked the achievement with a commanding bowling display from her team and then finished the chase herself, hitting the winning six down the ground.

India reached the target in only 8.4 overs despite losing Shafali Verma for 12, Smriti Mandhana for nine and Pratika Rawal for four.Harmanpreet remained unbeaten on 18, while Deepti Sharma finished on 12 not out as India completed another emphatic victory over Pakistan.The result further underlined India's dominance in the Women's T20 Asia Cup.
