With MobLand season 2 developing into the crime saga of 2026, the news that Guy Ritchie has already anointed the show’s successor will be music to the ears of fans who enjoy his gangster thrillers. Ritchie’s next series continues very much in the same vein as his smash hit starring Tom Hardy, set in the same contemporary criminal underworld of modern London.

Soon after season 2 of his small-screen mystery Young Sherlock got the nod from Prime Video, it appears that the Snatch director entered talks with Amazon over another project that looks set to rival MobLand on streaming for years to come. While it isn’t going to feature any of the Harrigan family, this upcoming series will strike a similarly gritty tone to the gangster show that’s taken Paramount+ by storm since the summer of 2025.

The details about Ritchie’s new project are sparse at this stage, but it unquestionably feels like a natural continuation from the work he’s done directing and producing MobLand over the past two seasons. Another Prime Video release to follow Young Sherlock also consolidates the filmmaker’s position as one of the biggest names in crime television.

Given what MobLand season 2 has served up so far, we have every reason to be excited about another Guy Ritchie gangster series set on the streets of London. In fact, it sounds as though Capital will be even closer than MobLand to the Eastend crime capers that launched Ritchie’s career, such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

The news broke in early July 2026 that Guy Ritchie has a new series in development at Amazon MGM Studios, which is expected to be released on Prime Video within the next two to three years. Although revelations from Deadline couldn’t tell us about the series in much depth, they did pinpoint three crucial details.

Firstly, the show will be entitled Capital, because it will take place in a capital city. Secondly, that capital city will be London, the primary location for the criminal activities we see in MobLand. Thirdly, just like MobLand, and unlike Ritchie’s other Prime Video series Young Sherlock, Capital will be set in the present day.

It almost sounds as though the production could be part of the same screen universe as Tom Hardy’s most iconic role of recent years. Either way, Capital has undoubtedly been lined up as the true successor to MobLand, and looks likely to blow Guy Ritchie’s other contenders for this crown, The Gentlemen and Young Sherlock, completely out of the water.

No one has yet been cast in the project, since it’s still in the process of being developed. However, it’s safe to assume that the likes of Vinnie Jones and Jason Statham are already lining up to appear in the series.

Capital Is Being Co-Developed By Acclaimed TV Crime Specialist Rob Williams

With Ritchie set to helm the show as lead director and executive producer, Capital’s script is also in a safe pair of hands. Rob Williams is a veteran TV writer who’s created and scripted several popular and acclaimed series already. Most notably, he’s worked as a lead writer on Killing Eve and The Man in the High Castle.

More recently, he scored a streaming hit with his own Netflix creation The Witness, a true-crime drama about a harrowing murder experienced through the eyes of a child. Williams previously created thriller miniseries The Victim and Suspicion, for the BBC and Apple TV respectively.

Much like Jez Butterworth’s role in bringing Ritchie and creator Ronan Bennett’s vision for MobLand to the page, Capital’s screenwriter will be just as crucial to its success as the show’s director. This collaboration between the godfather of modern British gangster dramas and such an accomplished writer gives us plenty of cause for optimism.
