Former Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal has joined La Liga side Getafe on a free transfer, signing a contract until the end of the 2026-27 season, the club announced on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old right-back had been without a club since leaving Real Madrid at the end of last season, bringing an end to a spell during which he won 27 trophies, including six Champions League titles.
Getafe confirmed that Carvajal’s contract will run until June 30, 2027, and said the experienced defender would bring leadership to the squad.

A product of Real Madrid’s La Fabrica youth academy, Carvajal moved to German club Bayer Leverkusen in 2012 before returning to the Spanish giant the following year.
He went on to establish himself as a regular in Real Madrid’s defence, spending 13 seasons with the first team.
Carvajal struggled with injuries for much of last season and was subsequently left out of Spain’s squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Spain went on to win the World Cup, defeating Argentina 1-0 after extra time in the final, without the experienced full-back in its squad.
