Mavy Legaspi says he’s ‘not in a good place mentally’ before ‘PBB’ hosting exit

Mavy Legaspi said he was not in a good place mentally before taking a break from work, that’s why he requested a hiatus from his management before the “Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Collab Edition 3.0”

The actor-host made the statement during an ambush interview at the red carpet premiere of GMA Pictures’ satirical film “Red Crown” on Monday, Oct. 26, where he showed support for his girlfriend, actress Ashley Ortega, who is part of the film’s lead cast.

Asked if he missed hosting “PBB” following the launch of its new season, Legaspi said he was grateful to his former co-hosts but had decided to move forward.

“I’m very grateful to my co-hosts. During the Big Night, they all messaged me that they miss me whatsoever. But then I’m on to greater things in life. Past na ’yon. I choose to be in places that will help me grow,” he told select reporters.

He also expressed support for the show’s current hosts, including Michael Sager, his supposed replacement for the new season. “Congrats to him. I messaged him also. We talked,” he said.

Legaspi then addressed speculation that his departure from “PBB” was due to the criticism he received during the second season’s finale night in February.

“100% sure on both ends. From ABS and from GMA, that’s not the reason,” he said. “Again, like I’ve been saying, it’s always about just getting ready physically. I was not in a good place mentally during that time. So I took a break.”

Legaspi explained that he had respectfully asked his management for a hiatus to focus on his physical and mental well-being.

“So I humbly and respectfully ask my management to have this hiatus from work so that I can, again, ready myself physically and also heal mentally also,” he expressed.

Legaspi faced social media criticism following his hosting performance during the “PBB Celebrity Collab Edition 2.0” finale, with some viewers describing his delivery as slow and awkward.

He later addressed the backlash on social media, citing microphone audio delays and echoes at the venue that made it difficult for him to speak smoothly during the live broadcast. He also apologized to viewers.

Despite the criticism, Legaspi said he was able to handle bashing and did not let it affect him.

“Luckily, I’m grateful that I have a strong heart. So bashing doesn’t affect me. Because at the end of the day, they can’t say that to my face,” he said.

He added that he rarely sees negative comments on social media because his accounts’ algorithms do not typically show him such content.

“Thankfully, I don’t get to see the comments because my algorithm in social media accounts is not bashing related,” he said.
