Perda chairman charged with 15 counts of corruption

Penang Regional Development Authority (Perda) chairman Shaikh Hussein Mydin has been charged with 15 counts of corruption in connection with a hostel project in Penang.
The 53-year-old Umno Supreme Council member pleaded not guilty after the charge was read to him before judge Irwan Suainbon in the George Town sessions court, Berita Harian reported.
Shaikh Hussein is accused of accepting a total of RM847,107 in bribes in connection with the project.
Perda is currently an agency under the rural and regional development ministry, but was under the Prime Minister’s Department from 2005 to 2018.
