Visitors made the most of the long weekend by traveling to Baguio City during the Undas break, with some also taking the opportunity to visit their departed loved ones ahead of Nov. 1 and 2.

In a “24 Oras” Weekend report by Jasmin Gabriel-Galban on Saturday, tourists flocked to the City of Pines, with some visiting the iconic Lion’s Head along Kennon Road.

“First time mag-visit ng mga anak ko sa Baguio… nag-enjoy yung mga bata sa pag-picture,” said Dennis de Guzman, who visited the landmark with his family.

(This is the first time my children have visited Baguio… the children enjoyed having their pictures taken.)

Others visited the newly opened Baguio Arboretum, as the temperature in the city dropped to nearly 17.2 degrees Celsius.

“First time ko po mag-Baguio. Okay naman po, masaya kasi hindi siya crowded, tapos okay naman po yung weather,” said tourist Angelica Tadea.

(It is my first time in Baguio. It's nice and enjoyable because it is not too crowded, and the weather is also good.)

Travelers also visited the newly renovated Burnham Park, where they could go biking and enjoy boat rides.

Meanwhile, local police warned tourists against online booking scams as they anticipated more visitors arriving in the city over the long weekend.

With Undas approaching, many also visited the Baguio City Public Cemetery ahead of the traditional influx of cemetery-goers.

Authorities reminded the public that gardening tools, cigarettes, alcoholic beverages and pets, among other items, are prohibited inside the cemetery. A drop-off-and-go policy is also being enforced to help ease traffic.

“Huwag po tayo magdala ng sasakyan dahil limited po ang ating parking areas,” said Baguio City Police Office Station 1 Commander Police Maj. Harriel Bulcio.
