KUALA LUMPUR: About 63 per cent of medical officers offered placements in Sabah and Sarawak reported for duty, the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said the non-reporting rate had fallen by five percentage points compared with last year.

"A total of 337 medical officers reported for duty in Sarawak out of 527 offered placements, while 336 out of 528 offered placements did so in Sabah," he said.

"Compared with 2025, when the non-reporting rate was 42 per cent, the rate has fallen by five per cent."

He responded to a question from Suhaizan Kaiat (PH-Pulai) about the reporting-for-duty period for 4,255 medical officers, which ended on Oct 7.
