The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is almost here. The highly-anticipated game from Nintendo will debut on the Switch 2 later this week, and pre-orders have already started to sell out at some major retailers. It's a bit surprising, then, that a new bonus has been announced here at the last minute, especially considering many people may already have the Ocarina of Time remake preordered, and it's only a couple of days before its launch date.

First announced earlier this year, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake has since shown us glimpses thanks to a special Nintendo Treehouse on September 9. Even last week, fans were treated to new gameplay from the Ocarina of Time remake, and the first parts of the game were discussed and shown off by developers during an Ask the Developer session on the official Nintendo website yesterday. It seems that with the game launching in just two days, the marketing for Nintendo's next big exclusive is reaching a fever pitch.

The excitement for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake shouldn't be all that surprising. A huge chunk of fans considers it to be the best Legend of Zelda game of all time. Initially releasing in 1998 on the N64, there was a remake on 3DS back in 2011, but the technological leap to Switch 2 is by far the most noticeable. From the design of ReDeads and Kaepora Gaebora, to the (somewhat) controversial updated looks for Link and Zelda, this 2026 remake has some distinct changes from its N64 version.

To celebrate Ocarina of Time's original release on the N64, Nintendo has announced a new Nintendo 64 box replica that will be given out during the midnight release for the remake. Based on the UK's original box design, the free replica will be in limited supply. It also comes with an Ocarina keychain, which is also only available while supplies last. This is part of the Nintendo Experience Zone within the Argos store at Tottenham Court Road in the UK, so it's sadly not available to those in North America.

Ocarina of Time N64 Replica Box

The replica N64 box is designed so that the Switch 2 copy of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time will fit inside it. It's honestly a pretty cool item, and the fact that it's free is just icing on the cake. If you're feeling especially nostalgic for the Nintendo 64 era, then this will undoubtedly be a must-have item. The catch is that to get one, you'll need to purchase the Ocarina of Time remake during the midnight opening at Argos. Otherwise, it looks like the rest of us will have to miss out.

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is expected to be the biggest Switch 2 exclusive to date, outselling big titles like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza. Considering how well the game is selling ahead of launch, it certainly looks like Nintendo is offering up a successful alternative (and some solid competition) for Grand Theft Auto 6, which releases on November 19 and is expected to be the biggest video game of the year.
