Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials soundtrack finally gets release date confirmed

Translate

Doctor Who has finally announced the release of the 60th Anniversary Specials original soundtrack.

Episodes The Star Beast, Wild Blue Yonder and The Giggle were released across November and December 2023, to celebrate the sci-fi show’s landmark year.

David Tennant returned to the TARDIS with Catherine Tate, before Ncuti Gatwa was introduced as the new regeneration, setting the stage for the episodes since.

The specials were accompanied by musical scores created by composer Murray Gold, who previously worked with Doctor Who showrunner Russell T Davies on It's a Sin, A Very English Scandal and Queer as Folk.

The release was teased on Thursday with a teaser clip on the official Doctor Who Instagram page, alongside the caption: “It appears as though somebody opened the Toymaker's box and a bunch of music fell out... 👀🔷”

Released as three albums, one for each episode, fans will be able to add them to their playlist on all major streaming services from 23 November – better known to fans as Doctor Who Day, marking the date the first episode aired.

After this, the soundtrack will be available as a three-disc set from 27 November.
