COTABATO CITY, Philippines – Member of Parliament (MP) Ahmad “Arrie” Balindong will be 8th District representative of Lanao del Sur after running undisputed in the Bangsamoro parliamentary polls.

Balindong has received 72,093 votes, according to 93.82% of total election returns, as of September 14, 10:14 pm.

He ran under the banner of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party, which is led by Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim, chairman of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

Prior to the campaign, Balindong was appointed a member of the Bangsamoro Parliament by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in March 2025. He served as vice chairperson of the committee on agriculture, fisheries, and agrarian reform, and the committee on environment, natural resources, and energy.

He comes from the Balindong political dynasty, which traces its roots to the late Sultan Amer Macaorao Balindong, former mayor of Malabang in Lanao del Sur, the father of the late Bangsamoro parliament speaker Pangalian Balindong. – Rappler.com
