Mekki Leeper Workplace Comedy Set In World Of Private Equity Ordered To Series By Prime Video

EXCLUSIVE: Prime Video has given a series order for New Money, a new half-hour comedy created, written, and starring Mekki Leeper (Jury Duty, St. Denis Medical). Joe Mande (Hacks, The Running Point) will serve as executive producer and co-showrunner alongside Leeper.

The new Amazon MGM Studios-produced project is based on the pilot Fintech, which was self-financed, created and directed by Leeper and subsequently shown to buyers with Mac (More Better) attached as an executive producer. Jackie Cohn, Nick Frenkel of 3 Arts Entertainment, and Olivia Doud of Mosaic also exec produce.

New Money is an ensemble workplace comedy set in the fast-paced and morally dubious world of private equity. The show follows a trust-fund baby-turned (self-proclaimed) mogul and his staff of misguided wannabes at New Money Worldwide, Southern California’s least successful venture capital firm. Delusions of grandeur and complete incompetence will not stop our nepo-baby hero and his team of dedicated misfits from failing upwards as they recklessly invest money in a desperate attempt to make exponentially more money.

Leeper currently stars as Matt on the hit NBC mockumentary St. Denis Medical. He also played juror Noah on Amazon’s Jury Duty. For his contributions as a writer on the show, he received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing For A Comedy Series. He can also be seen as Eric on the HBO Max show The Sex Lives of College Girls. Leeper is repped by WME, Mosaic, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.

Writer, comedian, and actor Mande served as a writer and producer on the HBO Max show Hacks, for which he received a group Emmy as executive producer of the series when the show won Outstanding Comedy Series earlier this month. Additional writing credits include two seasons of Running Point on Netflix, all four seasons of The Good Place on NBC, three seasons on Parks and Recreation as well as Master of None on Netflix, Forever on Amazon, and Kroll Show on Comedy Central. As an actor, he recurred on Hacks and has appeared on shows like Modern Family, Parks and Rec, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Mande is repped by CAA, Mosaic, and Ziffren Brittenham.
