Noel Gallagher Talks Vegans, Macca, Underwear on Chicken Shop Date

Translate

“Do you know what’s not a high-flying bird? A chicken.” Noel Gallagher is the latest guest on Amelia Dimoldenberg’s Chicken Shop Date. In the new episode, the elder Gallagher brother opines on vegetarians (“Fuck those guys”), Macca (“He’s one of those rare people that when you meet him, you walk away from it feeling good about yourself”), and the long-standing rumor—started by him, mind you—that he doesn’t wear underwear onstage: “That’s nonsense—I wear two pairs of underpants.”

Throughout the clip, Dimoldenberg peppers Gallagher with her characteristically acerbic questions. Asked “how do you make a comeback feel natural and not desperate,” he replies, “You can’t make sure, you just gotta hope that you can do whatever it is you’re trying to do as well as you once did it. And in the case of Oasis, it became apparent after maybe a week in rehearsals that it was gonna be as good—if not better—than it ever was.”

At another point, Gallagher addresses that inscrutable “Champagne Supernova” lyric: “I mean, I’ve still no idea what ‘slowly walking down the hall/Faster than a cannonball’ means. Do you?” “Well, it means you’re walking quite fast,” Dimoldenberg replies, to which Gallagher counters, “I think it’s a drug reference.” The two also engage in some light football banter (Gallagher famously supports Man City, while Dimoldenberg is a United fan). Watch the full segment below.

After a 12-year run, Chicken Shop Date is winding down with its final season. Role Model and Jorja Smith have also made recent appearances on the show. Meanwhile, the second coming of Oasis will proceed apace well into 2027, with live dates across Europe, the UK, and the U.S. slated through September. Next month the band will be honored at the 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
