Source: Texans star Collins injures hamstring, uncertain to play Week 2

Houston Texans star wide receiver Nico Collins suffered a hamstring injury during Wednesday's practice and is uncertain to play in Week 2 against the Cincinnati Bengals, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Collins met after practice with team doctors, who don't think the injury is "serious," the source told Schefter. But the two-time Pro Bowler's status for Sunday's game is in jeopardy, the source told Schefter.

The Texans' official injury report listed Collins as limited in Wednesday's practice due to his hamstring. Collins also battled a hamstring injury in 2024, when he was placed on injured reserve and missed five games in the middle of the season.

Collins, 27, had seven receptions on 10 targets for 75 yards -- all team highs -- and a touchdown in the Texans' season-opening loss at home to the Buffalo Bills. The six-year veteran has been Houston's leading receiver in each of the last three seasons, eclipsing 1,000 receiving yards in each campaign.

Collins' absence would be a major blow for Houston against a Cincinnati defense that force four turnovers against Tampa Bay in Week 1 and sacked Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield four times.

The Texans already are without promising wide receiver Jayden Higgins, who will miss the season because of an ACL tear.
