Chris Hemsworth shares a new look at his Extraction 3 training.

Following the success of the first film in 2020, Hemsworth returned as mercenary Tyler Rake for Extraction 2 in 2023. Production began on Extraction 3 from returning director Sam Hargrave in July, with Rake now set to embark on a new violent mission.

As filming continues on Extraction 3, Hemsworth has taken to Instagram to share a series of new videos of his training for the upcoming sequel. The actor reveals that production is currently underway in Thailand, and the videos show him aggressively punching and kicking pads. Check out Hemsworth's post below:

"Shooting Extraction 3 in Thailand and have been lucky enough to hit pads with my good mate @jack_boonsanong," writes Hemsworth in his caption. "Thank you brother."

In addition to Thailand, the third installment is also reported to be filming in various locations around Australia. This marks a major shift from Extraction 2's filming, which took place primarily in the Czech Republic and Austria to support the movie's cold weather setting. The first installment took place in Bangladesh and was filmed in India, Thailand, and Bangladesh. No release date for Extraction 3 has been set, but now several months into filming, the movie could release late next year.

Though story details for the third installment have not yet been released, the Extraction 2 ending could provide some clues about what's to come. After defeating the central villain, Tyler is whisked off to prison alongside his partner, Nik (Golshifteh Farahani). The film ends with Tyler being recruited for a new mission by a mysterious figure played by Idris Elba.

Full cast details have yet to be announced, but Elba is expected to return for the third film, alongside Farahani. Newcomers include Pierce Brosnan, Don Lee, Joe Taslim, Chi Lewis-Parry, and Siena Agudong. It remains unclear who each of these cast additions will play, but at least one will likely be playing the movie's central antagonist.

Many questions remain about Extraction 3, but the prior two installments have been generally well received. In addition to sporting strong viewership numbers on Netflix, the first film has a 67% on Rotten Tomatoes, while the sequel has an improved 79%. Praise has been aimed at the franchise's strong action set pieces and choreography, with Hargrave using his previous as a stunt performer to raise the bar in a big way.

Filming on Extraction 3 is likely nearing its end, and, though it's been six years since the first installment, Hemsworth is evidently not missing a step. The next installment in the hit Netflix action thriller franchise could feature the most dangerous version of Rake yet.
