Afrilition: Unveiling a distinct operating system and bridge into the African world, By Adéwálé Àjàdí

Afrilition is a defining and distinct operating system and transformative process of the African world’s contribution towards its own evolution and viability for collective humanity. The incoming generation needs new understanding in order to step into the fullness of their humanity. They no longer require approval to build their own alternative way in an increasingly multipolar world.

Afrilition is a deeply coded word for African evolution and ebullition. It is an operating system for African intergenerational development. A deep personal lesson led to its creation. A few years ago, I borrowed an existing Yoruba word and model to illustrate the transformation Nigeria needed from a country with over 372 ethnic nations into a nation-state with shared trust and clear interdependence. The book was titled Omoluwabi 2.0: A Code of Transformation in 21st-Century Nigeria. It was quite revealing in its journey. First, Omoluwabi is Oyo Yoruba; there are other Yoruba groups that spell it Omoluabi, especially in what is modern Osun State.

The choice of Omoluwabi was in recognition of the fact that the two historical pan-Yoruba states were the Oyo and Ibadan Empires; both would use the Omoluwabi spelling. Unfortunately, it was more intuitive to localise the spelling. The second major challenge was that, in using a Yoruba name, many assumed this was about perpetuating Yoruba hegemony rather than, as I intended, building a prototype from indigenous knowledge systems. Also, the prototype, whilst using the branding of a traditional concept, was entirely original in content, yet kept being imprisoned in the contrast to an imagined and romanticised origin.

One day I was asked by the Government of Osun State to supply my books to support an Omoluabi Club for schoolchildren. I was also asked to speak at an event to launch the club at a stadium. In spite of arriving early for the programmed event, I had to wait three hours for the event commencement. After the three-hour wait, I was approached by the governor’s aide to prepare me for my speech. Like a comedy of absurdity, he first asked where the cap was for the buba and sokoto I was wearing. He insisted that as a writer of Omoluwabi, I was improperly or informally dressed without a cap.

 Like any operating system, it is encoded as a bridge, in this case between the software and hardware of the African world of the latter 21st century. It embodies the spirit and power of manifestation using the dynamics that drove generations of African coding through the dynamic use of fractals, the mathematical precision of the Dogon Astrophysics, the binary logic engines, and algorithmic data compression of Ifa.

As is my usual practice, the last button at the top of my buba was open, especially because on that hot Osogbo afternoon it was my only respite from suffocating heat. Suffice it to say this was not good enough. He insisted that my speech had to be given in Yoruba, a requirement I was being told five minutes before the podium. He finished off by telling me that the majority of the time allocated to me would need to be given to a Professor and renowned Nollywood actor who is a more recognisable face of Omoluabi. I understood deeply that the work of transformation needed its own code and brand, that borrowing from existing codes includes carrying these inevitable burdens.

Afrilition does not carry the systemic burdens of past psycho-spiritual models, nor is it conditioned by the failings and triumphs of years of practice. Like any operating system, it is encoded as a bridge, in this case between the software and hardware of the African world of the latter 21st century. It embodies the spirit and power of manifestation using the dynamics that drove generations of African coding through the dynamic use of fractals, the mathematical precision of the Dogon Astrophysics, the binary logic engines, and algorithmic data compression of Ifa. Afrilition is based on technology that is spiritual and is foundational in the Bible in John 1:1: “In the beginning was the word and the word was with God, and the Word was God himself.” The Word that frames manifestation itself.

Africans developed ways to engage this technology, developing holistic platforms that added the spiritual, psychological, physiological, and social dimensions, often in practice. For example, the Yoruba Afosé is a code for À fi ohun sé and is now used as Àsé, or, in Brazil, Àxé. It means our word is manifest or manifest word, often used as a declaration or affirmation with profound vibrations. This is why Congo Square carried more than music, and the Cucaracha step in Salsa, Mambo, and Chachacha carries the fullness of Bàtà dancing.

These codes are often buried, only for the initiated or discerning to uncover. The cowboy story and culture disguise the kidnapping to the specifications and enslavement of Fulani herders for ranching in the USA, including exporting their cattle, as found in 2023 genetic studies. The current global system is well versed in the dispersal and atomisation of African technologies and proprietary contributions.

Alternatives to a world where the powerful ignore their killing of over 23,000 children in a war of choice. An alternative in a world where a few hundred individuals drive the exploitation of billions.
