The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down finally announces start date - and it's very soon

Nothing says autumn like cosy crafts and reality television - and The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down is the perfect combination of both. Six famous faces will soon be donning their aprons to compete in a number of ceramic challenges, hosted by Liza Tarbuck.

Among the star-studded line-up is Layton Williams, Fatiha El-Ghorri, Denise van Outen, Paul Merson, Lucy Beaumont and Richard Herring. Their clay creations will be judged by Keith Brymer Jones and Rich Miller, before one of them is crowned the champion.

A new photo, shared on Instagram, sees the celebrities in the pottery studio ahead of their exciting five-week journey. The post confirmed that the wait is almost over, with the show set to kick off next week.

"Clay calm and carry on. The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down starts Sunday 13 September at 7.45pm on Channel 4," reads the caption, so make sure to get that date in your diaries!

Unlike the regular series, the celebrity version won't include a weekly elimination. Instead, the novices will get to learn and develop their skills over the five episodes, giving them all an extended chance to win.

Each challenge will see them awarded points ahead of the grand finale, where one celebrity will emerge victorious. The synopsis promises "a few wonky edges, and some cracking clay creations as each celebrity grows in confidence and ability".

"But who will be holding their breath, waiting to see if their muddy masterpieces emerge from the kiln intact, who will reduce Keith to tears with their creative ceramics, and who will crack under the pressure as the competition gets more competitive over the weeks?"

The comment section was filled with excited fans, eager to get stuck into a new series of the show. "Yay! cannot wait! This is what Sunday nights are made for!" one wrote, with another adding: "Ohhhh excited! What a great set of celebrities and I love Liza T!"

Meanwhile, Upstart Crow star Tarbuck previously expressed how much she enjoyed filming the show, and noted how each celebrity grew from the experience.

"I knew I'd enjoy Keith and Rich's company," she said. "People flourish around emotionally intelligent people, and the boys' encouragement and kindness really promoted a growth in our newbie potters that was a pleasure to witness. I absolutely loved being there."

The Great Celebrity Pottery Throw Down starts on 13 September at 7.45pm on Channel 4.
