Nathan Fielder Reveals Elizabeth Holmes Just Called Him from Prison After Six Months of Silence

You Can See Everything, Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim’s documentary on Elizabeth Holmes, featured plenty of twists and turns, and apparently there’s still more to come. In a new interview with WIRED, Fielder revealed that Holmes called him from prison on the eve of the film’s release after six months without contact.

“So I answered the phone, and I said, ‘Hey, how’s it going?’ She asked how I was doing. I asked her if she had seen any stuff about the film coming out and how she felt about it all. She told me that she had seen some stuff, but most things she just isn’t seeing, so she’s heard things, but she hasn’t really read anything. And then, at the end, she said to me—’I trust you.’ I said, ‘OK, thanks.’

“We talked about some other stuff. She talked about her kids, and then some updates that are not really my place to share. But then after that, she said again, at the end of the call—’I trust you.’ And I don’t know what she meant by that.”

Fielder told WIRED that, as with much of his experience with Holmes, he’s still trying to decipher what she meant. “It’s just the whole thing is hard to unravel, and every piece I try to interpret. I don’t want to create too much meaning to any given moment, but then my mind does try to figure those things out.”

You Can See Everything had the second-biggest opening weekend for a non-music documentary in film history, earning $15 million from just 855 theaters. That puts it behind only 2004’s Fahrenheit 9/11 and ahead of the recent high-water mark set by Melania. Read our review of the film here.
