EastEnders explains Nancy and Lee baby twist in early iPlayer episode

Translate

EastEnders spoilers follow for Tuesday’s episode (6 October), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

EastEnders has explained the baby twist involving Nancy and Lee Carter in today's episode, after Nancy returned to Albert Square to speak to her lawyer brother Johnny for legal advice.

During Monday's episode, Johnny said he would help Nancy if he could. After Nancy bent over in pain, she was taken to hospital, and when Linda found out that her daughter was in town and in hospital, she went to visit.

That episode ended on a cliffhanger, with Nancy, who had always said she didn't want children, telling Linda she was pregnant and that her brother Lee was the father of her child.

Today's episode confirms that Nancy is acting as a surrogate for Lee, with Linda shocked to learn what is really going on. After Lee arrives, Nancy and Lee explain the situation and that Lee has broken up with his partner Jess, which is why Nancy was seeking legal advice.

Linda reacts badly to the news, asking her kids why Jess would just walk away from her baby, with Nancy replying: "That's why we came to see Johnny to make sure she can't just run off with the baby when it's born."

The pair leave while Elaine and Johnny try to smooth things over, and Linda talks it over with Max, saying: "I'm so scared that when she looks in that baby's eyes and has to give them up that she will never, ever get over it."

Linda decides to tell her family the truth about her secret relationship with Max, hoping they’ll be more honest with her in return.

Linda's news doesn't go down well with her kids. "I love you, Mum, but he wouldn't be my first choice," says Johnny.

Later, Lee receives a clandestine call from Jess, and it's clear he's been lying to his family about Jess being the one who left.

"Why are you calling me? I ain't telling you where I am," Lee says. "Listen, my family and this baby are nothing to do with you any more. Don't call me again, Jess."

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
