With November 19, 2026, fast approaching, most Grand Theft Auto VI fans are happy to hand over their hard-earned cash for the chance to play what could be one of the greatest open world games of all time. But, what if you could play it for free? Sounds pretty good, but one company is offering a lot more than that. There is an opportunity to not only play Grand Theft Auto VI for free but to also get paid for the privilege! Let's get into it!
Virgin Media Ireland are running a competition where one lucky winner will get paid to play Grand Theft Auto VI for eight hours. Not only that but the winner will also receive a free copy of the game to keep forever. The payment is in euros and the winner will get €100 per hour for a total of 8 hours. This is a whopping €800 ($900 approx.). The winner can spread out their pay session, but once they've clocked in a full 8-hour shift, they get paid to produce an honest review of the game.
Imagine getting paid for your play session and then getting to keep the game after as the cherry on top. There are some limitations, so you might need the luck of the Irish if you want a chance to win. Entrants to the competition must be residents of Ireland and must also have a social media account (either TIkTok or Instagram) to share the review on. Interestingly enough, entrants don't need to be Virgin Media customers, just residents of Ireland. So if you're in the Emerald Isle, you have no excuse not to enter.
A quick glance at the small print reveals some details that make the competition very flexible. The winner will receive a €100 digital gift card to purchase the game wine, meaning it can be on the platform of your choice. This amount of money is enough to allow the winner to buy the Ultimate Edition of Grand Theft Auto VI, which is amazing. The 8-hour play session can be done whenever you want, it can be done all in one go (most likely) or spread across a week, playing at your own convenience.
There are plenty of great games you can play for free these days, but none are as huge as Grand Theft Auto VI. Also, imagine your parents or significant others trying to give you a hard time for playing video games all day, and you get to declare 'It's for work'. €100 an hour is no joke either, making this one of the best prizes for gamers we've ever seen. Best of all, if you've already pre-ordered and paid for Grand Theft Auto VI, there's nothing stopping you spending that digital gift card on something else. A copy of the rather amazing Phantom Blade Zero perhaps?
So, if you're based in Ireland and have a social media account, there really is no good reason not to enter the Virgin Media Ireland competition. Grand Theft Auto VI is set to be the biggest game of the decade, and we're not just talking about the file size! Getting paid to play your very own free copy of the game feels like cheating almost. But remember, if you're not in, you can't win. Perhaps Jason and Lucia won't be the only ones pulling off heists this November!
