Talk To Me Is Officially Returning With An Immersive Spinoff Series

Translate

Jared is a writer, editor, and Communications Studies graduate who loves popular nerd culture (almost anything to do with Marvel, DC, Star Wars, or The Lord of the Rings) and the interactive storytelling medium. Jared's first console was the PS1, wherein he fell for Spider-Man, Spyro the Dragon, and Crash Bandicoot.

2023 was an extraordinary year for horror movies, including the incredible likes of Evil Dead Rise, Five Nights at Freddy’s, Godzilla Minus One, and Insidious: The Red Door. In terms of true, pound-for-pound terror, however, one movie was far more relentlessly breathtaking and nerve-wracking than its contemporaries, bearing a simple premise and wielding it to the best of its ability: Danny and Michael Philippou’s Talk to Me.

The Philippous followed Talk to Me with Bring Her Back in 2025, and are reportedly working on Talk to Me 2, though it’s unknown when this highly anticipated A24 sequel will be released. Thankfully, that’s not all there is to look forward to from the Talk to Me franchise, as it’s also receiving a brand-new series that’ll wield the full might of Meta’s immersive hardware.

First announced a year ago, an immersive six-episode XRTV series in the Talk to Me universe titled I Let You In is in development, exclusively for Meta Quest headsets and Meta VR Glasses. Recently, however, the first poster/key art was revealed for the series as per Twitter/X, featuring another character who’s chosen to hold the creepy ceramic Hand and be bold enough to invite someone from the ‘other side’ to communicate with them, hence the all-black eyes and the Hand itself, littered with a history of signatures and other chicken-scratch writing, clasping their face.

Shared by Variety, I Let You In’s press release explains that the original series will follow “a group of young travelers chasing the ultimate party on a European island until they discover the Hand, a supernatural high deadlier than any drug.” This is par the course for an original story in the Talk to Me universe, which essentially has limitless sequel and series potential with endless characters who’re either curious enough or goaded into experiencing this addictive sensation.

Talk to Me is plenty scary as a movie, and thus, an extended-reality experience indulging in that same terror surely won’t be for the faint of heart. Taking any of the scariest games in recent memory and playing them in VR illustrates why consuming entertainment via a headset is way scarier—it’s that much more immersive, of course, with things now literally happening around you, whether or not everything is interactive.

Considering that I Let You In is a live-action, original Meta series, it’s unlikely that any part of it will be interactive. Still, being able to experience the horror from within a headset or a pair of glasses should double its potential for dread-inducing scenes, especially if characters choose to take the Hand in complete darkness, lit only by candlelight. And, if nothing else, I Let You In should be a great amuse-bouche for Talk to Me 2, as they’ll both likely feature an original bunch of characters who are all in a similarly terrifying predicament.
