SHAH ALAM, Sept 11 — Hosts Selangor brought the curtain down on the 2026 Selangor Para Malaysia Games (Para Sukma) by emerging as overall champions after six days of competition.

Selangor amassed 93 golds, 55 silvers and 52 bronzes to celebrate a double, having also emerged as Sukma champions last month with 101 gold medals.

Sabah finished as Para Sukma runners-up with a medal haul of 69-51-45, while Sarawak (52-32-54) came in third.

The closing ceremony of the 22nd edition of Para SUKMA, held at the Selangor International Trade Centre (SITC) here tonight, kicked off with the arrival of Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari and Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud.

The ceremony continued with the rendition of the national anthem, Negaraku, and the Selangor state anthem, followed by a welcome dance and a march-past by the 14 contingents.

Amirudin then delivered a speech before officially declaring the 2026 Selangor Para Sukma closed.

Selangor swimmer Muhammad Safwan Suhaimi and Sarawak athlete Noshazwani Maisara Marzuki were crowned the Best Male Para Athlete and Best Female Para Athlete, respectively.

Both athletes received RM5,000 in cash and a trophy each.

The 2026 Selangor Para Sukma featured 328 events across 10 sports, involving 1,352 para athletes from across the country.
