Half-burnt body of woman found in UP, toddler found crying nearby

BIJNOR: Panic spread in the NoorPur police station area on Wednesday morning after the half-burnt body of an unidentified woman, believed to be around 27 years old, was found in a sugarcane field in Alampur Edwa.Her nearly 18-month-old daughter was found crying beside the body.Police immediately took the child into protective custody and admitted her to hospital for medical care. The woman’s body was sent for postmortem. A forensic team, led by CO Desh Deepak Singh, inspected the spot and collected evidence.The body was found along the roadside near the sugarcane field of Dhyanpal Singh, a resident of Gohawar Jait, on the route connecting the Ramganga feeder canal to Roshanpur village.Around 7am, villagers passing through the area spotted the partially burnt body and the crying child and alerted police.Noorpur SHO Parvez Kumar reached the spot with police personnel and conducted an initial inspection.Police suspect that the woman may have been strangled at another location and that her body was subsequently brought to the field and set on fire in an apparent attempt to conceal her identity and destroy evidence.

Police questioned local residents, but the woman’s identity could not be established immediately. Teams are checking missing-person reports registered at police stations in neighbouring areas and districts to identify her.CO Desh Deepak Singh said the exact cause of death would be established after the postmortem examination. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and efforts are underway to establish her identity.
