Jason Kelce & Travis Kelce Discuss: Has Taylor Swift ‘Ever Made a Halloween Song?’

Translate

It’s said that Taylor Swift has a song for every occasion, but on the latest installment of New Heights, Jason Kelce and Travis Kelce wondered whether that includes Halloween.

On the podcast episode posted Wednesday (Oct. 14), the brothers first discussed the best spooky-season songs in general, shouting out “Monster Mash” and the Ghostbusters theme song. The retired Philadelphia Eagles center then questioned, “Has Taylor ever made a Halloween song?”

“Has she ever ventured into the scary territory, Travis?” he continued to his little brother, who replied, “I don’t believe so, Jason.”

Is he correct? More or less. The 14-time Grammy-winning pop star hasn’t ever explicitly released a song for the trick-or-treating holiday, but in the elder Kelce’s words, she has arguably delved into “scary territory” with spooky tracks such as “Haunted” from 2010’s Speak Now, “I Know Places” and “Wonderland” on 1989, or “Who’s Afraid of Little Old Me?” on 2024’s The Tortured Poets Department. For the “Look What You Made Me Do” music video in 2017, she went full zombie Taylor.

She’s only referenced Halloween itself once, on the devastating 2012 charity song “Ronan.” She sings on the track: “And it’s about to be Halloween/ You could be anything you wanted if you were still here.”

Before moving on with the show, Jason also put forth his pick for Swift’s most fitting album for this time of year. “Folklore was kind of her ‘in the woods’ [album],” he said of her woodsy folk-pop pandemic LP, which topped the Billboard 200 and won album of the year at the Grammys.

The episode comes as Swift’s album The Life of a Showgirl spends its 14th week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, propelled back to the top spot by the recent release of four new bonus tracks. One of them, “Patient Zero” — the music video for which is also a bit spooky — notched the singer her 16th career Billboard Hot 100 No. 1.
