Ruturaj Gaikwad said the surface might play a bit slow  •  SLC

Toss Australia A chose to bat vs India A

Australia A captain Will Sutherland won the toss and opted to bat first in the first one-dayer against India A in Puducherry. Sutherland said the pitch at the CAP Siechem Ground looked like "a really good wicket".

India A captain Ruturaj Gaikwad said he would have batted first too. He said the pitch looked to be "on the drier side", and that he doesn't expect dew to play a role in the match, given India A will be bowling in the evening.

Gaikwad termed his team as "one of the strongest India A sides in recent years", even as they are without Hardik Pandya, who has suffered a shin injury and has been asked to rest for 15 days. Allrounder Suryansh Shedge took his place in the squad and was slotted in at No. 7 for this game.

India A head into the one-day series after winning the two-match red-ball series 1-0.
