Death Cab for Cutie Announce 2027 North American Tour

Death Cab for Cutie have announced a new North American tour for 2027, along with an animated video for “Stone Over Water.” Watch it below, and scroll on for the full list of tour dates.
The five-piece will play their first show of the year on January 19th in Honolulu, and then wait almost two months before their next performance on March 11 in Nashville. From there, the dates will be packed a lot closer to one another as the group will perform across North America over the next month before calling it a day after an April 16 gig in Asheville.

An artist presale is scheduled for September 23rd, followed by local presales on September 24th and the general on-sale on September 25. All three are set for 10:00 a.m. local time. Tickets will be available to purchase at Ticketmaster.
Death Cab for Cutie’s new video for “Stone Over Water” should keep fans occupied in the meantime.
Directed by Sean Solomon, the visual puts a playful spin on the song’s heavier subject matter as it follows an animated character through a particularly lousy day before landing on a more positive note. Although he typically makes videos for his own songs, he said the song struck him on a personal level. Drawing inspiration from the visual gags of cartoonists like Sergio Aragonés, he paired the song with slapstick animation as a contrast to its sadness.
“I think everyone can relate to the little man in the video having a bad day,” Solomon explained in a press statement. “But I wanted the video to ultimately have a positive message even though it’s sad. Everyone is going through something, and sometimes helping others can be a way to get out of our own heads and remember we’re not alone.”
Even though the visual offers a spark of hope, the band described the song itself in much heavier terms: “If you’ve ever had to try and convince yourself and everyone around you that you’re ok when you are most definitely not, this song is for you.”
The song appears on I Built You a Tower, Death Cab for Cutie’s 11th studio album and their first since leaving Atlantic Records after two decades. The band has been touring in support of the record since its release in June through ANTI-, with dates in Europe, Japan, and Australia still to come as well as a Beyond Hunger benefit show currently set up for November 21 in Chicago.
