India’s Nishad Kumar won gold in the men’s long jump T47 at the ongoing Asian Para Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletic Stadium on Tuesday.

This is India’s second gold of the ongoing edition after shooter Mona Agarwal won the top prize in women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 category.

Nishad triumphed over rest of the field with a best jump of 7.11m, a length he registered on his third and fifth attempts. His other attempts stood at 6.95m, 7.09m, and 7.07m.

Uzbekistan’s Omadbek Khasanov took silver with a best of 6.99m, while Sri Lanka’s Mohammadu Safran bagged bronze with 6.55m.

The 27-year-old’s pet event is the men’s high jump T47, an event in which he’s the defending champion at the Asian Para Games. He also has a Worlds gold and two silver medals at the Paralympics in this event.

Nishad will also be in action in the high jump T47 final, scheduled to be held on Tuesday.
